On April 25th, 2007 The Nature Conservancy and partners held a day long Symposium titled:
Horses, Hikers, Habitats and Hounds: Managing Land for Multiple Recreational Uses.
The event took place at Blue Hill Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, New York. The event was attended by over 100 land managers, conservation scientists, policy makers and representatives from recreation groups.
Throughout the day participants learned about the research in this growing field, listened to a panel with leaders from various recreation user groups discuss how they view the land and its resources, and received practical tools for dealing with recreational land use conflicts and overuse. The event also served as a forum for local environmental organizations and land users to collaborate and share ideas. A tour of the magnificant facility and the surrounding grounds capped off a truly spectacular day.
A sincere thank you to the folks at Stone Barns for providing a first class venue for this event.
